Careers: Construction Technician Internship

Community Energy Services Corporation is seeking a Construction Technician to assist with day-to-day program operations. This internship is a great opportunity for career development in a construction field. This 16-week paid internship will require 24 hours per week. Candidates should have strong construction skills, be able to work in a safe and efficient manner, have good communication skills, be highly organized and possess strong problem-solving abilities. This project is implemented in partnership with Prescott-Joseph Center and is funded by Chevron.

Candidates must reside in North Richmond, California.


The successful candidate will report to program managers and be expected to perform the following duties:

  • Assist with moving materials to and from job sites, prepping work areas and general clean up
  • Install energy efficiency measures in local residences and perform related testing (combustion appliance safety tests, blower door and duct blaster)
  • Provide information to clients about work performed
  • Conduct minor home repairs, which may include plumbing, carpentry and electrical improvements


  • Must currently reside in North Richmond, CA
  • Interest in a career in construction
  • Must be able to pass a Federal and State background check
  • Some construction related experience, which may include installation of energy efficiency measures
  • Have basic skills in math and English
  • Personal Skills

  • Bilingual in Spanish encouraged
  • Sense of humor and team spirited

  • Paid internship at hourly rate of $14

  • Uniform shirts
  • Workstation, including laptop computer, work belt, and basic tools
  • A stipend will be provided for travel to and from CESC’s office
